Canadian man charged after deputies find weed in his vehicle

April Fool’s Day was no joke for a Canadian man when he was charged with criminal possession of cannabis after police in New York State discovered just shy of 100 kilograms of weed in their car.

Deputies with the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) stopped the vehicle driven by Perry Opoku-Agyemang, 26, of Thornhill, Ont. at about 10:10 a.m. on Apr. 1, notes an OCSO Facebook post.

Opoku-Agyemang was driving on Interstate 81 south in Richland, N.Y. before being stopped and the police finding 91.5 pounds (41.5 kg). He was initially held to await arraignment.

But OCSO deputies were not done for the day. Less than two hours later, at 11:52 a.m., a 35-year-old woman from Maywood, Ill. was pulled over on the same interstate, although this time in Hastings, N.Y.
