Mexico native sentenced to 10 years in U.S. prison in connection with illegal grow

A 56-year-old man from Mexico has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for his part in conspiring to manufacture cannabis and depredation of federal lands.

It is alleged that Filemon Padilla Martinez conspired with three co-defendants to illegally grow marijuana in Shasta-Trinity National Forest, notes a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Eastern District of California.

“Padilla Martinez recruited, trained and supplied two of these co-defendants, whom he left to live and work on the site while he stayed either at a nearby stash house or at his residence in Ione, Calif.,” the statement reports.
