The ensuing verbal altercation soon turned physical when the 26-year-old assailant reportedly knocked the victim face down to the ground, straddled him and started punching him repeatedly in the back of the head.
The police report that the witness intervened and managed to pull the suspect off the victim, who is believed to have lost consciousness for a period of time.
For his part, the suspect told police the victim had two small pocket knives while the two were fighting and that he had sustained a minor cut and a puncture wound to his right cheek.
Responding police arrived at the building at 1:15 p.m. on June 13, about an hour after the alleged assault had taken place, and were met by the witness and victim. Seeing the victim’s injuries, he was transported to a hospital for treatment.
