A Democrat congressman for Tennessee joked this week that cannabis could be considered performance-enhancing for food-eating competitions, but seriously doubted any advantage extended to professional-level sports like the Olympics.

Speaking before a House Judiciary Committee considering a bill to eliminate the sentencing disparity between crack and powder cocaine, Rep. Steve Cohen commented on the absurdity of banning Sha’Carri Richardson from the upcoming Tokyo Olympics because she tested positive for cannabis.
Although the committee discussions had nothing to do with cannabis, Cohen took the opportunity to raise issues surrounding marijuana rules that don’t seem to make sense.
