$1.7M of cannabis seized in Burk’s Falls

Two people from Toronto face criminal charges after police seized hundreds of cannabis plants from Burk’s Falls, Ont. this week with a total estimated value of more than $1.7 million.

At approximately 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, the Almaguin Highlands Community Street Crime Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), OPP-led Provincial Joint Force Cannabis Enforcement Team, OPP North East Region Community Street Crime Unit, Sudbury Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau and Almaguin Highlands Crime Unit executed a Cannabis Act search warrant at a commercial building on High Street, resulting in the seizure of 1,726 cannabis plants.

Cong Nguyen, 23, and Hoang Nguyen, 34, have been charged with cultivating, propagating or harvesting any cannabis plant at a place that is not their dwelling house, as well as possession for the purpose of distributing.

Both accused were released from police custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sundridge,
