500-plant cannabis farm found on High Street

Police in the U.K. have arrested four men following the discovery of an illegal cannabis farm housing about 500 plants on High Street in Colchester, located about an hour and a half from London.

Four men, aged 36, 22, 58 and 29, were initially arrested, according to a statement from Essex Police. A day later, charges of producing a Class B drug were laid against two men, while one man remained in custody and another had been released under investigation.

Including recreational cannabis, it is illegal to take, carry, make, sell, deal or supply drugs throughout the country.

Police anticipated it would take days to process the illicit grow, which was discovered at about 3 p.m. on Feb. 1, and work through the property.

Though the police did not put a value for the grow, it was called “very significant.”
