Calgary-based High Tide Inc., a retail-focused cannabis company, has opened two more locations in Ontario, bringing its total tally of branded retail locations to 101.
For every store opened, the company is also sponsoring two children through World Vision. From an initial sponsorship of three children in 2006, the company has now sponsored more than 200 children as part of its partnership with non-profit.
Ontario recently surpassed the 1,000 store mark and now leads the country in retail cannabis stores.
The thousandth store, 6 of Spade, opened its doors in downtown Toronto late last month. A Black-owned business, the shop was opened by husband and wife, Jeremiah and Amiga Wheatle, who recently spoke with the Ontario Cannabis Store about their business.
Located in Little Portugal, the 700-square foot store honours the couple’s Caribbean heritage.
