Six people have been charged under the Cannabis Act after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) seized $22 million in illegal pot.
On Oct. 14, the OPP Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team executed search warrants at two greenhouse locations and two houses in Vineland and St. Catharines.
Officers seized 21,000 illegal pot plants and 181 kilograms of processed cannabis.
Under the Cannabis Act, the six people were charged with intent to distribute and cultivate or harvest cannabis in a place that isn’t their own dwelling.
Those charged include Xiaoqiang Wang, 34, and Ming Hua Xue, 59, both of Toronto, Xiao Chen, 34, and Erxiang Sun, 35, both of Scarborough, and Xiaping Lin, 67, and Qiangzheng Sun, 51, both of St. Catharines.
OPP say the investigation is ongoing.
