Study to track how cannabis is being accessed, consumed and perceived in the North

A new project out of the University of Waterloo will examine how cannabis is being consumed and accessed across the Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

In addition to cannabis prevalence and patterns of use, the survey will also assess purchasing and price points, retail environment, risk behaviours, perceptions of risk and social norms, the effectiveness of regulatory policies and socio-demographic information.

Citing the lack of data to guide cannabis policy in the territories, the study hopes to generate information about the public’s thoughts and opinions regarding cannabis in the North.
