Cannabis reportedly helps ease some endometriosis-associated symptoms

Women using the Canadian-based Strainprint Technologies Ltd. app reported that cannabis helped to reduce the discomfort of endometriosis-related symptoms like pelvic pain, poor mood and gastrointestinal symptoms.

Endometriosis is associated with a variety of symptoms, including chronic pelvic pain, fatigue, period pain, painful sex, painful bowel movements and pain related to urination. Anxiety and/or depression, irritable bowel syndrome-like symptoms and significant fatigue are also reported, notes the paper, published online this week in PLoS One.

“These symptoms contribute to substantial reductions in many aspects of quality-of-life, including social, academic, work and sexual relationships,” authors write.

To get an idea of the self-rated effectiveness, dosage forms, dosage amount and cannabinoid ratios of quality-assured legal cannabis products that women are using in the Canadian regulated market, the Australian researchers considered archival data from the Strainprint app that tracks usage for medicinal purposes.
