A new U.S. study shows the proportion of hospitalized pregnant patients who had cannabis use disorder (CUD) rose 150 percent between 2010 and 2018.

Co-led by researchers from Columbia University and Weill Cornell Medicine, investigators identified 249,084 hospitalized pregnant patients with CUD, representing about 1.2 per cent of the hospitalizations of pregnant individuals. Investigators wanted to examine the prevalence of co-occurring psychiatric and medical conditions of pregnant individuals who were hospitalized with and without CUD.
