Highway 401 stop leads to seizure of cash, cocaine and 52 kilograms of cannabis

A hurried driver received more than a speeding ticket this week after the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) clocked him travelling at 149 km/h on Highway 401 in South Glengarry Township.

He also faces charges under the Highway Traffic Act for driving a motor vehicle with a speed-measuring warning device and speeding. He is scheduled to appear in court in Alexandria, Ont. on Dec. 1.

Last month, a speeding driver attracted the attention of police in Wahoo, Neb., and ultimately led to a record-setting cannabis bust for the Saunders County Sheriff’s Office.

Towing a U-Haul trailer, the vehicle was pulled over on Nebraska Highway 92 and a K-9 unit was deployed. Inside the trailer, officers recovered 358 vacuum-sealed bags of cannabis with a total weight of nearly 400 pounds (181 kilograms).
