More than 1,200 kilos of pot seized from U-Haul truck

A U-Haul truck stopped by police in Oregon this week was hauling more than just old furniture.

An inspection of the load revealed black plastic garbage bags filled with pot, amounting to 2,800 pounds (1,270 kilograms).

Police seized the drugs, along with growing equipment, and the two men have been arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession and delivery of marijuana and criminal conspiracy.

Cannabis, of course, is legal for both medical and recreational use in Oregon, but there are limits.

Possession of more than four ounces of cannabis in public is a class A misdemeanour, punishable by up to one year in prison and a fine of up to $6,250 ($7,849), according to the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws.
