PepsiCo launches energy drink with hemp seed oil in the U.S.

Rockstar Energy Drink, a subsidiary of PepsiCo, is launching a new line of energy drinks in the U.S. that contain hemp seed oil and B vitamins.

Don’t expect any of the reported benefits of CBD, however. Hemp seed oil is made from, well, hemp seed, and does not contain any CBD.

In a news release, PepsiCo noted the new line of sugar- and calorie-free drinks, dubbed Rockstar Unplugged, are “designed to give you the right amount of caffeine when you need it.”

The drinks, with 80 milligrams of caffeine, are marketed to “turn up your mood,” and will also be getting a special spotlight from MTV, a recent partner of Rockstar Energy.

Both Rockstar and MTV Unplugged are teaming up for a series of concerts this year, beginning with a music series in Los Angeles.
