A 53-year-old West Virginia man is facing up to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to a federal drug crime earlier this week.
Recreational cannabis remains illegal in West Virginia, though possession of small amounts is a misdemeanour. Medical cannabis was legalized in 2017.
Earlier this month, a West Virginia couple in their 20s were busted after they attempted to conceal vacuum-sealed cannabis inside a vacuum. Police received a tip about a possible drug deal, pulled over the vehicle and recovered the cannabis, which was also hidden beneath the car’s gear shift.
The driver claimed he had purchased the bud for his boss but the couple was still charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
