Authorities in Ohio have been searching for cannabis grows this week as part of an ongoing “marijuana eradication operation.”
Earlier this year, New Zealand took to the skies in search of cannabis a year after it reported it would cease the annual aerial hunt. The national operation has an average cost of about $700,000 and police say they target gang-affiliated, large-scale commercial growers.
In February, however, those resources were put to use to fly a helicopter over the home of an elderly couple and spray three plants that were being grown for medical purposes.
The couple, who was not named, told Stuff that they were eating dinner when they noticed the helicopter approaching.
