Some cannabis retailers are starting to feel the impact of the B.C. General Employees’ Union (BCGEU) strike as it stretches into its second week.
The BCGEU announced it would begin “targeted job action” on Aug. 15 after issuing a strike notice three days prior. The bargaining committee represents 33,000 members and has reached an impasse as it negotiates a new collective bargaining agreement with the provincial government.
“It is going to start to feel like empty shelves in the middle or beginning of next week,” Wolff said.
Last week, the BCGEU announced picket lines at three distribution centres, a wholesale customer centre and the cannabis division of a customer care centre in Burnaby.
