Ontario traffic stop leads to $100K drug bust

Two Toronto area residents have been charged after a traffic stop in Orillia led to the seizure of more than $100,000 worth of drugs.

The 41-year-old faces multiple charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), Cannabis Act and Criminal Code (CC), including possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling.

The 32-year-old was also charged under the CDSA and Cannabis Act.

It’s not the first time traffic offences have led to drug charges. A driver in Ohio made it easy for police earlier this week after they attracted attention by cutting through a red light while driving with a loud exhaust system.

After pulling the vehicle over, the responding officer noted several joints visible in the car’s ashtray and the man was eventually cited for both the bud and the exhaust system after officers recovered three plastic bags, one of which contained a leafy green substance.
