The Department of Justice is asking a federal court to dismiss a lawsuit from a group of doctors who are challenging their exclusion from marijuana rescheduling hearings, with the government arguing that it would be against the “public interest” to “derail” the process by litigating witness selection.

Bryan Lanza, who worked on President-elect Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign and his 2016 transition team and now lobbies for the cannabis industry, predicted that rescheduling and banking legislation will get done under the new administration but said four years is not enough time to enact full legalization.
