Massachusetts hires new cannabis chief; Arkansas’ MMJ regulator resigns

Travis Ahern, the administrator for the town of Holliston, Massachusetts, has accepted the role of executive director of the state’s Cannabis Control Commission (CCC).

Ahern is tentatively scheduled to start March 3, according to a CCC news release.

He was offered the job post after commissioners voted 4-0 on Dec. 18 to enter negotiations with him, the State House News Service reported.

The CCC turned to Ahern after David Lakeman, a former employee of the commission, turned it down earlier this month to remain in Illinois, where he leads the marijuana division at the state’s agriculture department.
