Kayla Kratz, senior director of colour and design strategy at Behr, sees the same range play out in her own recommendations. For a home that feels joyful, she points to warm, optimistic shades like Beehive or Terra Cotta Urn. For calm, she reaches for something closer to nature: Ecological, a muted green, or Adirondack Blue. Even within blue itself, she says, the mood shifts fast. “A deep, dramatic blue like Nocturne Blue creates a very different feeling than a softer, more serene shade like Watery.”
