As taxpayers, we should be concerned about Ottawa wasting money on the Palestinians, who haven’t yet fulfilled their pledges to Canada for statehood. We should be asking, “What about us?” Our economy is fragile and we are in a trade dispute with America that is affecting countless jobs. To make matters worse, 4.5 million Canadians — 11 per cent of the population — live under the poverty line, according to Statistics Canada figures from 2024. In Nunavut, the poverty rate rises to 31.7 per cent of the population.
