California police take down weed grow-op more than 100,000 plants strong

Efforts by the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) to combat illegal cannabis grow-ops in the California area paid off big this week when detectives discovered thousands of plants and millions of dollars in infrastructure.

After executing about a dozen search warrants on Sept. 29, ACSO detectives found what is believed to be one of the largest illegal grow-ops in the state, notes a Facebook post from ACSO.

In all, the site contained an estimated 100,000-plus plants and upwards of US$10 million ($12.7 million) in cash. But beyond the bud, detectives found millions of dollars worth of infrastructure, equipment, lighting, generators and supplies, the post adds.

“This organized and sophisticated network of individuals were making tens of millions of dollars in profit and avoiding California Marijuana Regulations,” the ACSO reports.
