Canadian study finds fewer sleep problems helped improve pain intensity and well-being among fibromyalgia patients using cannabis

Patients using medical cannabis to ease their fibromyalgia-related pain may be able to benefit even more with a good night’s sleep.

“Our findings suggest that reductions in negative affect and sleep problems are important contributors to improvements in pain intensity and well-being,” write authors of new research out of Quebec.

Because issues like anxiety, depression and sleep problems can ratchet up pain intensity and poor well-being, it was thought that marijuana’s ability to potentially combat this negative effect “might indirectly contribute to MC treatment benefits.”
