A U.K. church erected in 1875 was found to be home to around 350 cannabis plants after a police raid earlier this week.
Acting on a tip from the public, police raided the disused church in Crawcrook and found the grow, which is estimated to be worth about $500,000, reports The Northern Echo.
Police also discovered a false floor and that the electricity had been bypassed in the former church and community centre.
Per BBC, the investigation is ongoing and police are asking the public for more information.
“We know the public has differing views on cannabis, but a farm of this size will turn significant profit to then be reinvested into further illicit activity, such as trafficking, by organized criminals, who have little concern for the ripple effects on our communities,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.
