An Alabama couple in their 20s has been charged with felony chemical endangerment after investigating authorities determined that their one-year-old child had tested positive for cannabis.

According to WIAT, the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office (ECSO) received a report from the state’s Department of Human Resources that a child was being abused. As part of its investigation, the police decided to carry out drug screening for both the baby and the father — the couple admitted they had smoked weed in the family home — and each came back positive for cannabis.
