Driver and passenger abandon bullet-damaged, weed-filled vehicle

The occupants of a vehicle with several bullet holes opted to leave behind both the car and the 380 pounds (170 kilograms) of cannabis behind in a bid to evade Oregon police who had been called to the scene.

Deputies with the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) were responding to reports of a single-vehicle crash at an intersection near Merlin, Ore. at about 4:09 a.m. this past Sunday. They arrived to find a vehicle, but no driver or occupants.

Perhaps wondering why the occupants did not stick around, it didn’t take long to satisfy their curiosity. On the outside of the vehicle, there were several bullet holes that had penetrated the occupant compartment; on the inside, guns and a large amount of processed and packaged cannabis were in plain view, the JCSO reports.
