A U.K. courier travelling with a shipment of cannabis thought a heavy dose of aftershave might throw police off his trail. He was wrong.
He was later sentenced to a 12-month community order and made to perform 60 hours of unpaid work.
It’s not the first time an overpowering smell has led to cannabis charges.
In 2020, a Louisiana woman was hit with an array of charges after the “cannabis-infused” cash she used to pay an inmate’s bail didn’t pass the sniff test.
Attempting to post $5,000 bail for a friend, the woman ended up charged after the cash, reeking of cannabis, prompted officers to search her vehicle.
They recovered another $50,000 in cash and 100 Klonopin pills from the vehicle, while a search of her home later led to the seizure of hundreds of more pills, marijuana, cocaine and various drug paraphernalia.
