Local firefighters and members of the Lane County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) got a bit of a surprise while responding to a structure fire in Creswell, Ore. and quickly discovered an illegal marijuana grow with more than 2,000 plants.

While on the scene, “authorities observed evidence indicating the location to be involved in a large-scale criminal marijuana manufacturing and trafficking operation,” according to the LCSO.
That prompted deputies to get a search warrant for the property. Upon executing the warrant on Oct. 20, the police seized more than 2,000 marijuana plants and over 200 pounds (91 kilograms) of processed, ready-to-sell marijuana.
