Fiji police find drug trade suspects in taxi

A getaway vehicle of sorts proved anything but when Fiji Police discovered two illegal cannabis farms after stopping a taxi transporting two people.

Thanks to a tip from a member of the public, officers had their eye on the two people believed to linked to illegal cannabis cultivation, notes a statement from the Fiji Police.

The U.K. government notes in its foreign travel advice for the country that visitors should “avoid recreational drugs of any kind in Fiji. Possession of even small quantities can lead to imprisonment and a hefty fine. Possession of any amount of marijuana carries a mandatory three-month prison sentence.”
