A U.K. driver has been arrested after a single vehicle accident in Greater Manchester, England.
The driver reportedly took to the roadways while high, failed to notice a set of protective barriers around a large hole in the road, and drove straight into it, Greater Manchester Police said in a tweet.
While medical cannabis is legal, recreational pot remains prohibited in the U.K. The maximum penalty for possession is five years imprisonment and a fine of up to £2,500 (about $3,800) is also possible, according to information from the U.K. government. Those caught supplying or producing cannabis could face a maximum prison sentence of 14 years.
Cannabis is by far the most common drug screened for and detected by the police in the U.K., where the legal limit for THC is 2 micrograms per litre of blood, according to Drug Driving Offence.
