House Passes Bill To Federally Legalize Cannabis

For the second time in history, the House of Representatives has voted to legalize cannabis at the federal level. The vote passed 220 to 204. Republicans Tom McClintock of California, and Brian Mast and Matt Gaetz, both of Florida, joined the majority of Democrats in supporting the bill. At the same time, Democrats Henry Cuellar of Texas and Chris Pappas of New Hampshire voted against it.

House Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) opened Friday’s floor debate, calling the MORE Act “long overdue legislation that would reverse decades of failed federal policies based on the criminalization of marijuana.”
