In early 2019, results of a U.S. survey published in Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine showed that seniors who reported having consumed cannabis within the past 12 months believed it had improved their quality of life.
Figures from Statistics Canada later that year indicated seniors are joining the cannabis bandwagon in larger numbers than any other age group in Canada.
And in early 2020, JAMA Internal Medicine reported that cannabis use seems to be continuing to increase among older adults in the U.S. Study authors estimated the proportion of adults reporting past-year marijuana use had risen from 2.4 per cent to 4.2 per cent from 2015 to 2018.
