Man arrested for suspected cannabis grow after leak damages neighbour’s apartment

A cannabis grow turned out to be a big mess for both its 25-year-old cultivator and his downstairs neighbour whose home was soaked after a leak rained down some unwelcome April showers.

Leaks have revealed illicit weed grows in the past.

In April 2021, U.K. police were called after council housing officers alerted them there was an apparent leak on a property. Upon arriving, they were surprised to also find 50 cannabis plants, growing equipment and bags of the drug.

In 2015 in Gatineau, Que., the Ottawa Citizen reported that a tenant complaint about a burst water pipe in a rented, but not occupied, apartment revealed marijuana plants in various stages of growth and production.
