Man driving double the speed limit in construction zone tested positive for weed

A construction zone in Newfoundland and Labrador — or the cop driving through it — did little to slow down a 57-year-old driver clocked at 106 km/hour shortly before being stopped and arrested for drug-impaired driving.

The man was directed to pull over after his pick-up truck sped past the cruiser of an RCMP Traffic Services East officer driving through the construction zone, which has a speed limit of 50 km/h, reports the Holyrood RCMP.

The stop occurred at about 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 7 near Holyrood, Nfld. while the officer was on patrol on the Trans-Canada Highway.
