Man escorted out of city council meeting after sparking a joint

A 28-year-old Nebraska man was cited for cannabis after sparking a joint during a Lincoln City Council meeting this week.

A council member can be heard in the background, saying “No, no,” while some others in the room laughed. “Breathe the herb, man,” it sounds like the smoker notes as another man, reported to be a police officer, calmly walks up behind him, puts a hand on his shoulder and guides him out of the room.

The man leaves without protest, waving and offering a thumbs-up to council members as he exits.

The smoker was reportedly cited for possession of marijuana and failure to comply with a no-smoking sign before being released.

While Nebraska has decriminalized possession of small amounts of weed, it remains illegal. Possession of as much as 28 grams could result in a $381 fine, according to information from FindLaw.
