Melissa Etheridge: ‘It’s been tough for a boutique cannabis brand like ours’

Singer-songwriter Melissa Etheridge has long been a proponent of cannabis legalization, particularly after a bout with breast cancer.

Cannabis was “the only thing that allowed me to function and regain my strength,” she told Rolling Stone in 2014. Since then, she’s been involved in a few cannabis ventures, including cannabis-infused wine, and, more recently, Etheridge Botanicals.

But her celebrity status hasn’t exactly boosted the company’s performance, she says. “We don’t sell any more than anyone else,” Etheridge toldCelebStonerearlier this week. “We’re still in the dark.”

Launched last year, Etheridge Botanicals sells dried flower and pre-rolls in California, with three signature cultivars branded as Morning, Noon and Night. Etheridge also sells five CBD tinctures under the Etheridge Organics brand, which are more widely available in the U.S.
