Million dollar cannabis grow discovered in former working men’s club

More than 1,000 cannabis plants were seized by police in Bradford, England after discovering a grow site in a former working men’s club.

Police believe the grow may have links to organized crime and involve trafficked individuals.

“Organized crime of this type affects communities and individuals who are exploited, becoming victims of those much higher up the chain,” West Yorkshire Police – Bradford South said in a statement.

“It results in added costs for those who pay electricity bills due to the resultant losses from the electricity network and extra remedial work required.”

A study published last year from the University of Cambridge found that migrants arrested for cultivating cannabis in the U.K. are often victims of trafficking and ‘debt bondage.’
