Mom gets suspended sentence after being caught in cannabis grow house with her children

A 25-year-old mother has avoided jail after she and her children were caught in a cannabis grow house during a police raid.

“What was she thinking taking children into a cannabis farm?” the judge reportedly asked the women’s lawyer, who responded, “She wasn’t thinking as she ought to have been. She regrets her behaviour and offending. She is embarrassed to find herself here.”

The judge sentenced the woman to 16 weeks imprisonment, suspended for one year. They added that the charges led to a custodial sentence, rather than a community order because the woman took her children into the house.

It was a different story earlier this year for a mother and daughter duo who received 49 and 43-month jail sentences after admitting to dealing cocaine and cannabis.
