Two-thirds of polled banking customers say they support U.S. banks offering cannabis businesses the same standard services as any other client.
While the act has passed the House several times, the congressional website reports it, most recently, was received in the Senate, read twice and referred to the Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs.
But banking customers don’t seem to understand what’s taking so long.
According to the American Bankers Association (ABA), its recent online survey of 2,210 U.S. adults over a two-day period in February shows that 65 per cent of respondents “support allowing cannabis businesses to access banking services such as checking accounts and business loans in states where cannabis is legal.”
That is more than four times the 15 per cent of individuals surveyed who oppose such a move, notes an ABA statement detailing poll results.
