NBA Hall-of-Famer Chris Webber begins construction of US$50M cannabis compound

Detroit’s Corktown neighbourhood will soon be home to a US$50 million ($63.4 million) cannabis facility backed by National Basketball Association Hall-of-Famer Chris Webber.

The cannabis arm of the facility will house a 60,000 square foot cultivation area, an 8,000 square foot dispensary and a private cannabis lounge.

Gage Growth Corp., which operates a number of dispensaries, and cultivation and processing facilities in the state, will work with Players Only to distribute its products while Cookies, a California-based cannabis company founded by rapper and entrepreneur Berner, will operate an on-site cannabis training program.

Dubbed Cookies U, the “no fee” training program will focus on job training and job placement in the cannabis industry and will recruit students from minority and underrepresented communities.
