Negotiators are going all-out to get a deal before Trump’s looming tariff deadline

Trade talks have increased since last month, when Trump threatened to impose a 50 per cent tariff on $29 billion worth of Canadian goods, ranging from alcohol products, sports equipment to cement, effective Aug. 19. The executive order was signed using powers under Section 338 of the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act.
