Newfoundland man charged with drugs and firearms offences after search of his residence

A 43-year-old Newfoundland man has been charged with drugs and firearms offences after a search of his residence by Burin Peninsula RCMP.

The man is currently on a court order prohibiting him from being in possession of firearms, ammunition and weapons.

He now faces eight charges, including possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling, which falls under the federal Cannabis Act, as well as possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine. Additionally, he faces five charges related to unauthorized possession of ammunition and a prohibited weapon.

The RCMP says the investigation is continuing.

Last month, a joint investigation by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary and the RCMP led to multiple drugs and weapons charges against a 29-year-old man.
