Patrol car vandalized while police pop pot farm

Merseyside Police officers experienced both success and failure on Feb. 16 when they discovered a small, illegal cannabis grow-op, but were then sidelined for the rest of their shifts because their patrol car had been vandalized.

The police seized the plants, Scottish Power ensured the electricity supply was safe and the homeowner agreed to attend a voluntary police interview.

But the officers were “shocked” when they returned to their car at about 11:20 p.m. and found a brick had been thrown through the passenger-side window. This meant “they were unable to continue their shift,” the statement notes.

“Our job is to keep you safe, and it is really upsetting to see that this is what we get in return,” says community inspector Simon Peers, pointing out that the vandalism leaves the police service a car down while it is being repaired.
