Police find almost $2 million in cannabis plants near London

The recent seizure of 1,000 cannabis plants hidden in a commercial premises in Rainham, U.K. “will undoubtedly have an impact on drug supply on London’s streets,” police say.

The large discovery in the community, located about 26 kilometres from downtown London, is estimated to have a street value of £1 million ($1.7 million), the Metropolitan Police report in a statement.

The raid carried out on Nov. 30 was headed by officers from the East Area Drugs Focus Desk, supported by neighbourhoods cops.

Upon executing the drugs warrant and entering the premises, the police quickly determined the space was being used as a cannabis factory
