Police find ‘substantial amount’ of cannabis plants growing inside student residence

A cannabis grow inside a U.K.-based student residence has been dismantled following a police raid.

Although cannabis is no stranger to student dormitories, it’s often not cultivated there. That said, U.K. police have found cannabis growing everywhere from derelict factories to abandoned banks and even a former police station.

As for enterprising students, a medical student in the Philippines took things a step further earlier this month when he was busted for selling cannabis oil.

The student was reportedly selling the oil online “as medicine for cancer, epilepsy, pain relief and other diseases and as an additive to e-cigarette/vape juice,” said Eric Distor of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

The student was busted in a sting operation and arrested at a local coffee shop after officers seized 27 millilitres of cannabis oil, a 9mm pistol and several pieces of ammunition, according to
