Two Albertans have been charged following a vehicle stop by the Lethbridge Police Service.
The second person faces charges under Alberta’s Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Act, including possession of illicit cannabis and possession of more than 30 grams in public.
They are both due in court over the next two months.
In March, an Alberta man who was initially stopped for speeding was also charged with distributing budding or flowering plants after police seized 440 plants from the vehicle. Police estimated that haul to be worth $440,000.
It’s not the first time traffic violations have led to drug charges.
In January, an Alberta RCMP officer stopped a vehicle after the driver was observed not wearing a seat belt and speaking on a cellphone.
