Police recover three firearms, six snowboards and hundreds of cannabis plants in New Zealand

Police are investigating after recovering firearms, stolen snowboards and hundreds of cannabis plants across four properties in New Zealand earlier this month, reports the New Zealand Herald.

It’s not clear how many plants were recovered.

Snowboarding and cannabis have a long history. Canadian Ross Rebagliati famously won the first-ever Olympic gold medal in snowboarding at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan, only to have it temporarily revoked after a positive cannabis test.

Rebagliati, who now runs cannabis accessory brand Ross’ Gold, was one of the first athletes to speak out on Sha’Carri Richardson’s behalf after the sprinter was suspended from the 2020 Toyko Olympics due to a positive cannabis test.
