Pure Sunfarms lends expertise to Langara College in a bid to advance cannabis research

Licensed producer Pure Sunfarms has signed an agreement with Vancouver’s Langara College to provide support for the Applied Science for the Canadian Cannabis Industry (ASCCI) research project.

As part of the five-year research effort that integrates chemistry, biology and bioinformatics, the ASCCI team will be able “harness Pure Sunfarms’ research and development expertise to achieve the project goals.”

Specifically, company experts will work with the college’s faculty members and students to advance efforts “that will provide new data and insights for published research and help advance Pure Sunfarms’ product development strategy.”

For students, they will gain “career-ready research opportunities,” the statement notes, by working alongside the company’s scientific team at its on-site laboratory and processing centre. The idea is “to conduct research contributing to new scientific standards for post-harvest processing, identification of genetic drift and breeding of cultivation varietals,” the company reports.
