RCMP apologize after seizing plants from legal grower during New Brunswick cannabis raid

A cannabis raid at a former school in New Brunswick has prompted an apology from the RCMP.

“These actions were contrary to RCMP policy,” the letter reportedly notes. “On behalf of the RCMP, I would like to apologize to you for this unreasonable accounting of your personal property and any distress that this may have caused you,” it adds, per CBC.

One of the men was initially arrested. Although later released, he contends his plants were never returned. Officers reportedly also seized his Health Canada paperwork, house key and deed to the home.

“I would like to be compensated immediately for my plants that were seized,” the man reportedly wrote in the complaint. “Being deprived of what was meant for medical purposes has certainly placed a financial hardship upon myself. I would like to have my other property returned immediately as well.”
